Indio, California | Earth & Light
Cocooned & Soothing. Vibrant & Rejuvenating.
Step through the door at Terra Luz and the pace slows immediately. It's the terracotta courtyard, the Kahlo blue pool catching the afternoon light, the sound of nothing but the desert and maybe whoever's in the kitchen. This is what Old Havana warmth looks like transplanted to the Coachella Valley.
Cuban roasted coffee beans on the counter. Mexican dominos on the shelf. Patterned robes in the closets. The Kitchen Terrace has a pass-through window that slides open toward the pool, so morning coffee becomes poolside conversation without anyone having to move very far. The aesthetic is collected, not staged. Wabi-sabi warmth, terracotta walls, woven rattan. The kind of place that feels lived-in on day one.
Three bedrooms, two bathrooms, sleeps up to six (up to 8 guests). The primary suite faces the pool. The kitchen is stocked properly: real cooking territory. Outdoor dining under the desert sky. Pool is heated.
I built Terra Luz around a single idea: most vacation rentals look the same, and none of them feel like anywhere specific. Terra Luz was designed by brand architect Dawn Asher to feel like a place with a history. Old Havana character through a desert lens. If you care about where you stay, this is for you.
The pool catches the light between 4 and 6pm in a way that makes you stop whatever you're doing. The Kahlo blue holds it differently than any other color would. I planned that. I also planned the pass-through window so you can hand someone a coffee without leaving the kitchen. The whole house was designed around moments, not features.
