THE SUNDUNE

Kitchen

Pink tile. Gold faucet. Built to be cooked in.

The pink herringbone backsplash was the first real commitment in the kitchen remodel. It went in before the pink kitchen moment happened everywhere. Still correct. White cabinets with brass pulls, quartz countertops, stainless appliances. The sink is gold and undermount, deep enough to be useful.

The spring faucet pulls out and has actual pressure. That sounds like a small thing until you are rinsing a full pot. The cookbook shelf above the counter has Hot Date, Snacking Dinners, Cook This Book. Not staging. The date cookbook is local knowledge: the Shields Date Garden is twelve minutes from here, and the shakes at the café there are worth the detour.

Full kitchen means full: stand mixer, blender, coffee grinder, French press and drip, sheet pans, Dutch oven, full spice drawer. Guests who want to eat out the whole trip can do that. Guests who want to stay in and cook have everything to do it properly.
